A Magical Elopement to The Fairy Glen
The Fairy Glen is a small and wonderful place on the Isle of Skye. The hills have a weird rippled effect caused my lots of tiny land slips and catch the light to make them a vibrant green in the sunshine. In the middle stands a large rocky outcrop called The Castle, with commanding views across the glen and beyond. An elopement to The Fairy Glen is always magical.
Kristin and Gregory were lucky to already be in Scotland when international travel from the USA became restricted in March, and even more lucky that they are from Seattle, one of the airports that were allowing travellers back. They planned their ceremony for the end of their Scottish tour so it was the perfect end to their amazing holiday.Unfortunately Greg’s father, a pastor, was unable to travel to join them to conduct their ceremony. Greg’s brother was there to save the day and had brought with him the words that had been prepared.
The family that had been able to travel met at the Skeabost Hotel. Kristin and Greg met with them in the lounge before having afternoon tea, and then headed off the short journey to The Fairy Glen. The weather was dark and stormy, but everyone packed stout boots, water-poofs and umbrellas and headed off with big smiles and lots of excitement. The weather wasn’t great, but the skies were wonderful and brooding and Kristin’s red fairy tale dress looked amazing against them and the green of the hills. Being from Seattle, the rain wasn’t going to be a problem for anyone! Kristin and Greg’s elopement to the Fairy Glen may have been damp, but it was certainly full of love and magic.
After the moving family ceremony and fun with umbrellas we headed off in search of waterfalls and a sunset… one of which we found, the other eluded us!
