Celebrating Your Marriage With Style On The Isle Of Skye

When you’re a photographer, you get to see the very best of people, at the very best times of their lives. Especially in such a beautiful location as the Isle of Skye, where I live and work photographing weddings, elopements, families and beautiful women in flying dresses!

I’ve seen so many ways to celebrate marriages over the years of being an Isle of Skye Wedding Photographer. Everything from the meaningful moments with your celebrant, to the excited leaps of joy on a mountainside or splashing in the sea! I’ve helped couples to arrange a romantic beach picnic, a candlelit meal for two at a hotel, a big Scottish breakfast in a wonderful cafe, and of course, there’s been more than a little champagne sprayed, whisky sipped, and gin tasted.

Traditional and Ceremonial

Whether you are having a legal marriage ceremony on the Isle of Skye, or a ceremonial one, then you can include some traditions into your ceremony to celebrate you wedding day. Handfasting is a very literal way to “tie the knot”, and something that is really popular here. There are other “extras” that you can include. Maybe a piper? or how about the Skye Wedding Sketcher?

The food and drink!

No wedding day is complete without some food and something to drink! There are lots of local restaurants who will be able to give you a candlelit, romantic dinner. Or somewhere more fun – there are several gourmet food truck style catering on Skye that have the most amazing local seafood for you to share! And I’m pretty sure that if you show up in your wedding dress, you’ll get the royal treatment. For drink, you are spoiled! There’s obviously champagne, but how about a dram of local whisky? You can even get married in a whisky distillery!

In case you are new here, you should know that I like water. SO, if there’s a loch, beach, or river… the chances are I’ll ask you to get in it! So how about celebrating with a dip? Or for the adventurous couples, let’s get high for the best views of the island, and the best celebration photos!

family and friends

Lots of people elope to Skye, which means their celebration is a personal one while on the island, saving the parties with family and friends until they return home. However, for those who have their family with them, the party starts straight away! Whether you have a small ceremony and an informal party, or you’re going the whole hog with a wedding reception, then having your loved ones with you to celebrate is wonderful.
