Is The Isle of Skye the Perfect Elopement Destination?
The Isle of Skye has it all… mountains, beaches, crystal clear seas, waterfalls, stunning views and and a friendly welcome. Is it any wonder that Ross and Fiona think it is the perfect elopement destination?
They chose to have their ceremony with Rona, a Humanist celebrant, at the Quiraing. The tops of the hills were shrouded in mist but the rain held off. There was a keen wind and Fiona’s veil was challenging in the stiff breeze! They brought their parents with them as witnesses. The original plan was to have twenty of their family with them but travel restrictions had only just been lifted and so numbers were difficult. The important people were there and that is what matters!
After the ceremony the guests headed to find coffee and cakes in Portree and we headed further up to the top for some pictures. As a complete contrast we then went all the way down to Staffin beach. There the sun was shinning and there are great views back to the misty Quiraing. After a few pictures and a paddle in the waves I left them with a picnic ion the beach.
Here is how their elopement looked.

The sun broke through the mist at the Quiraing from time to time and we could se for miles along the Trotternish Ridge. Fiona’s hair piece and flowers from Loch Duich Plants were beautiful. As there is no indoor mixing of households allowed at the time of this post, Fiona’s mum had braided her hair through the window of their accommodation!

On the beach the sun was shining. Theirs were the only foot prints in the sand (apart from where I was of course!). I left them alone, the only people on the beach, with a picnic. They left me with a rather delicious Cornish delicacy, a saffron cake!
