Looking for Something Different to Do on the Isle of Skye? Try a Flying Dress Photoshoot
If you’re planning a trip to the Isle of Skye, there are probably already a few things on your list. You’ve looked on insta, TripAdvisor, and the Isle of Skye’s own website for inspiration. You may want to visit the Fairy Pools, climb the Old Man of Storr. Stand on the cliffs at the Quiraing, and hopefully stop for coffee and cake in Portree. Mix in a castle or two, and make sure to take a photograph of a Highland cow if one happens to look suitably Scottish at the right moment, and you have an adventure that looks and feels like a typical visit to the island.
But what if you’re looking for something a little bit different to do while you’re on Skye? Perhaps you don’t want to do the same things, take the same photos, as everyone else? Maybe you want to make sure you book something that you will EXPERIENCE instead of visit, and that will leave you with memories that few others get to have of their visit to the Isle of Skye.
Well… how do you feel about putting on an enormous, fabulous flying dress and letting me photograph you in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Scotland?!

What Exactly Is a Flying Dress Photoshoot?
It’s pretty much as amazing as it sounds!
You wear one of my specially designed flying dresses, with yards and yards of beautiful flowing fabric, and we head out into the Skye landscape to create something rather spectacular. Depending on what you are looking for, and the weather on the day, we can include mountains or lochs, there will probably be huge skies, and I guarantee to provide dramatic scenery! And you, right in the middle of it all.
My dresses are designed to move, sweep and fly on the wind, creating incredible shapes and making you feel amazing. It’s the one time when I WANT the Skye weather to join in!

But I’m Not a Model…
Good! I’m not looking for one! You don’t need to know how to pose, what to do with your hands or which side of your face is your “good side”. I’ll sort all of that out for you. I’ll guide you throughout the photoshoot, helping to show you how to stand, where to look and what to do. I’ll also be thinking about the dress, the light, the landscape and everything else, so you can relax and not worry.
You might feel slightly nervous for the first few minutes. That’s completely normal, and won’t last! You’ll hopefully forget about feeling self-conscious and start enjoying the fact that you’re standing somewhere ridiculous, in an enormous dress, looking absolutely amazing.

It’s Not Just a Photoshoot
You could come to Skye on vacation, visit all the famous places, take hundreds of photographs on your phone and have a wonderful time. But if you book a flying dress shoot, you will get a different kind of memory. For an hour or two, you’re not simply looking at Skye. You’re part of it. You are FEELING the wind and the sun, and you’re making yourself a part of the beautiful Skye landscape.
When your holiday is over, you don’t just have another photograph of the Quiraing on your phone. You have photographs of you, looking fabulous, feeling completely amazing, right there in the landscape.

You Don’t Need a Special Occasion
Flying dress shoots are brilliant for milestone birthdays, honeymoons, anniversaries and special trips. Or even just because you want to celebrate YOU. Feel great about yourself and leave with wonderful memories and beautiful photographs.
They’re also perfect if you’re travelling with friends, celebrating something you’ve achieved or doing a bucket-list trip you’ve been dreaming about for years. You can even book a dress shoot for two people!
But remember, you don’t actually need a reason. If you’re like me, you may be good at thinking we need to justify doing something purely because it sounds fun. But, “I was visiting the Isle of Skye and fancied wearing a fabulous dress on the side of a mountain” is an entirely acceptable reason. This is your sign to do it!

What If You’re Travelling on Your Own?
Even better. If you’re taking a solo trip around Scotland, you’ve probably already discovered one small problem. You come home with hundreds of beautiful photographs… and you aren’t in any of them!
Unless you count the selfie, with your arm taking up 1/3 of the image. Or the wonky picture, taken by a very kind stranger, that includes half their thumb. And the one that proves that you visited the Fairy Pools, taken with a self timer, at the moment you blinked.
A flying dress shoot is a chance to actually put yourself into the story of your trip. And whatever your reason for wanting to do this, you will leave feeling FABULOUS about yourself, and with the best memories of your flying dress photoshoot.
What Do You Need to Bring?
Not an enormous dress – I have those already, in a variety of colours, that you can choose from. You may be getting changed in the back of a car, or behind a rock, so big underwear or cycling shorts to protect your modesty from the neighbouring sheep is recommended, but optional. There is often no-one else around!
You don’t need modelling experience, you definitely don’t need to practise poses in your hotel mirror the night before. And please don’t worry if you don’t feel confident, because you will feel AMAZING by the time we are done!
Come as you are. I’ll take care of everything else.

Do Something You’ll Remember
There are lots of incredible things to see on the Isle of Skye, and you’ll probably go home with hundreds of photographs of mountains, waterfalls, beaches, castles and landscapes that don’t quite look real. But the best trips also have a few stories attached to them. Like, when you stood in the sea, in a bay, in a huge dress.
The slightly ridiculous things are those that become core memories. The “I can’t believe I actually did that” things. A flying dress photoshoot can be one of those.
So go to the Fairy Pools, visit the Old Man of Storr. Drive up to the Quiraing. Eat the cake. Make friends with the Highland cows (don’t be too friendly though – they have horns!)
And if you’d like to add something completely different to your Isle of Skye itinerary, then come and put on a fabulous dress and let’s make something beautiful.
