A Sunny Proposal at Neist Point

Neist Point is a pretty special place. It sits at the far north west of The Isle of Skye and there is nothing between it and America. It boats a dramatic peninsula with incredible cliffs and a light house, and always looks spectacular. It was small wonder that Kevin decided that this was THE place to propose to Jaqueline.

From Canada, they travelled first to Germany, and then onto Scotland and Skye, before heading to Majorca and Paris. Kevin had decided that Skye was where he wanted to pop the question and after some research, Neist Point was the perfect spot. he did some detailed homework and even decided roughly where he thought would be best, away from others, with the lighthouse making a dramatic back drop, so I went ahead with two friends to scout out his location and send detailed instructions on where to make his move. Here is what the plan looked like:

We had a chat via Skye to firm up the expected events, which was interrupted when Jaqueline arrived at Kevin’s early, but thankfully he came up with a great cover story at a moment’s notice so that she suspected nothing.

Thankfully the actual day was a bright and sunny one. Kevin decided he was too nervous to wait until the evening so at 10am Sophia, who had come along to help and make sure we had every angle covered,  and I were laying in wait, posing as tourists. I had ‘dropped’ a bright pink glove to indicate the spot and all we had to do was look as inconspicuous as possible. We didn’t have to wait long to see them coming. Jaqueline had fallen into a puddle and was feeling a little damp and muddy, but that was was very soon forgotten. As soon as Kevin reached inside his coat pocket and started to bend his knee we could hear shrieks of “Yes, yes, yes!”.

It’s so lovely to capture these moments. I had to concentrate hard not to cry to make sure I had the shots – I do have a great job!

A quick glass of fizz, a few more tears and we then spent some time taking some pictures around the area… we had plenty of time to fill before anyone in Canada was going to be awake to hear the news. Here is the whole story:
