An Elopement to Skye – Back to The McQueens’ Roots
Joe and Dixie celebrated their marriage by visiting Joe’s ancestral home, The Isle of Skye. The McQueens arrived from the Outer Hebrides along with the MacDonalds and switches allegiance between both the MacDonald and the MacCleod clans on the island until they moved onto the mainland. Only a handful of people knew about their elopement. They married officially back home in South Carolina and then flew to Scotland on honeymoon and specifically to Skye for their pictures, which they used to announce their news to all their friends and family.
Joe wore a McQueen tartan shirt and Dixie, brilliantly, chose to wear her new tartan on her legs, under her dress… just as well as it was a little breezy at The Quiraing and on Staffin beach where we took their official wedding pictures!
Dixie’s outfit was perfect. Her skirt billowed beautifully in the wind and her gorgeous Dr Martins were just the job on the beach, although they may have got just a little wet (my fault!). Skye provided beautiful stormy clouds, plenty of ‘breeze’ and the usual stunning landscapes. Dixie’s beautiful moon ring was reflected in the stars and moons in her braid and I fell in love with her choice of top and skirt. She looked amazing.
Here are some of the pictures we took in between lots of muddy puddles, dinosaur footprints, chocolate breaks and plenty of laughter:
