About Penny! What You Need to Know Before Hiring Me as Your Photographer

Penny Hardie, a photographer sitting beside a river on The Isle of Skye

Planning a wedding on the Isle of Skye is a dream come true for the many couples I meet, and I completely understand why – I got married here myself just last year, after Skye worked its romantic magic on me! Living and working on Skye means I know all about this island’s quirks, and I’m thrilled to share that knowledge with you as you are looking to capture the magic of your special day.

I am an experienced and qualified wedding photographer and I love to create stunning, intimate portraits that truly reflect the uniqueness of your relationship. I specialise in weddings, elopements, proposals, and family portraits during vacations. Here’s why I think you’ll love working with me:

1. Local Knowledge

One of the biggest advantages of hiring me is that I live and work on the Isle of Skye. This means I know all the best spots for your wedding photos, including some hidden gems that most visitors never see. While many people flock to the famous locations, I prefer to guide my couples to more secluded, beautiful areas where we can capture something truly personal and unique, without having to fight the crowds!

2. Short Weddings, Big Memories

Did you know, I prefer photographing shorter weddings and elopements over all-day events? Because they’re more intimate, relaxed, and fun! A smaller celebration gives us the chance us to focus on the moments that really matter, giving us space to create beautiful portraits without the stress of a packed schedule. Don’t worry – even though your Skye wedding day might be shorter than a full 12 hour epic you may have considered (and dismissed!) I’ll make sure that your images capture the very essence of your relationship in every image.

3. Skye as Your Wedding Backdrop

The Isle of Skye’s landscapes are known around the world for their epic beauty, and if you have chosen Skye for your wedding, then you will want to show off the landscape in your wedding photos. I’ll help you find the perfect spots that reflect your personality and vision for your wedding day. And because I know the island so well, I can avoid the crowds and take you to those quiet, breathtaking locations that will make your photos stand out.

4. Capturing The Important Moments

My approach to photography is all about capturing the real you, celebrating your wedding day together. Whether it’s a quick glance between you and your partner, or the way the wind catches your dress, I aim to document the important moments of your day. My style is relaxed and unobtrusive – in fact, I often photograph surprise proposals from hidden spots without being seen – so you will be able to concentrate on your wedding ceremony with me as your photographer.

5. I love dogs

You should know that I am a real dog person! (Also a cat person, and chickens, ducks, fish… OK, so I’m an animal person!) which means that if you want your four-legged friend included in your wedding, I’m in my element! A hairy ring bearer is my idea of a perfect wedding!

5. Why Choose Me?

With years of experience and a qualification through the Guild of Photographers, I’ve had the privilege of working with couples from around the world, helping them celebrate their wedding on Skye. I want to make your wedding on the Isle of Skye stress-free and enjoyable, guiding you through each step of the process and making sure you feel comfortable and confident with me behind the camera.

If you’re considering an elopement or wedding on the Isle of Skye and want a photographer who’s passionate about this island, I’d love to chat with you! Feel free to reach out through my website, and let’s start planning your incredible day.
