A Perfect Day for a Wedding on Skye

Helle and Adam brought a small group of family and friends to celebrate their wedding at Loch Coruisk, on the Isle of Skye. There were guests from all over the world it seemed, and everyone was looking forward to the adventure.

The weather was perfect for their boat trip with Misty Isle Boat Trips. It was not too hot, the mountains remained dark and brooding while the ceremony was held in brilliant sunshine. There was enough breeze to keep the midges at bay without ruining hair dos and there had been rain to fill the river. The seals, who had not long had pups, lay obligingly on the rocks for photos and everyone enjoyed a fabulous picnic and champagne on board.

We had an interesting start to the day. An unfortunate car accident stopped all the guests from getting to the boat on time, but with some quick phone calls the wedding moved back a couple of hours so the crash could be cleared and everyone had plenty of time to make the sailing. Helle looked gorgeous in an ivory lace dress and beautiful floral crown from Caroles in Portree. The Skye Piper piped Helle to the jetty and played while we set off. Once there Reverend Rory MacLeod performed their ceremony. Adam surprised Helle by saying his vows in English and then again in Estonian… After shedding a wee tear she laughed a lot, so I am not sure how good his Estonian is, but it was a lovely thing to do.

After the ceremony we scrambled over rocks and through the river for some photographs before getting the boat back so that the guests could start the party back in Portrree where they were all staying.

Here is how the day looked:
