Your Guide to Eloping to The Fairy Glen on the Isle of Skye

Eloping to the Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye

Welcome back to our series of wedding destinations on the Isle of Skye. I’m really happy to introduce you to a hidden gem that’s straight out of a fairy tale – The Fairy Glen. If you are looking to elope to the Isle of Skye and want somewhere totally unique, the Fairy Glen is a small glen near Uig to the north of the Isle of Skye. It has strange shaped little hills caused by land slips lining the narrow road and at its heart is Castle Ewen, a tall rocky outcrop. It is almost a strange land all of its own.

Why Choose The Fairy Glen?

The Fairy Glen feels like it’s jumped straight out of the pages of a fairytale book! The miniature rock patterns in the glen give it a magical feeling that will appeal to you if you are a romantic at heart, or if you are fun and a bit quirky! If you’re looking for somewhere completely unique to get married when you are eloping to the Isle of Skye, then this is one of my favourite locations.

The Fairy Glen is toward the north of the Isle of Skye, and it isn’t marked on many maps, which makes it particularly special. It’s your own location that you don’t need to share with anyone if you don’t want to! The glen is quiet, beautiful and very special.

Capturing Your Fairy Wedding

The Fairy Glen is relatively small, when compared to other locations you might choose for your elopement to the Isle of Skye, but that doesn’t mean you have to compromise on your wedding photographs! The glen offers the magical stone circle, a craggy mountain backdrop, a tall rocky outcrop, a loch with a mirror-like surface and sheep to witness your special moment!

Practical Considerations

Just like many other popular locations for eloping on the Isle of Skye, the Fairy Glen can get a little busy in peak season. We can make sure that you have a quieter wedding experience by aiming for either end of the day, or we can even plan your elopement for the winter time! You might be risking a bit of rain or snow, but the day and the photographs will still be a beautiful experience!

When it comes to guest accommodations and transportation, nearby towns like Uig and Portree offer a range of options to suit every style and budget. And for those looking to add a touch of adventure to their wedding day, consider hosting a pre-wedding hike through the nearby Quiraing or a post-wedding picnic amidst the fairy-tale landscape.

Whether you’re dreaming of a springtime wedding amidst blooming wildflowers or a winter wonderland celebration dusted with snow, The Fairy Glen promises a location that’s magical and unique.
