Sixty – Skye Style
Gary contacted me as he was planning to come to The Isle of Skye to celebrate his 60th birthday. It’s not been an easy year for Gary but he was determined to embrace this milestone birthday in style, on his favourite Scottish Island.
Having stayed in the north of Skye before he decided to treat himself to a few nights at the gorgeous Three Chimneys at Colbost, so I decided to show him some of the sights in the south, starting at the iconic bridge at Sligachan we then drove to Elgol to take in the Cuillins, stopping along the way for photographs at any interesting places en route. The weather gave a us a bit of everything, which meant sunshine and rainbows, moody clouds and blue skies.
Gary brought along a very special bottle of beer… which he tried on the bridge, with Glamaig in the background. With an ABV of 41% it is more of a beer liqueur. Imagine an intense beer syrup, and you will get the idea! Gary’s mum was on hand to make sure he didn’t try too much!
It was a fun day, and I felt very honoured to be part of his special day. He asked for pictures that reflected himself, his mood and iconic Skye locations that would make canvasses for the wall at home. His reaction, when he saw the previews was, “….Wow Penny….what can I say…Thank you! Truly the end of a perfect day. I love all the photos!”
