Not all honeymoons look the same.
Some involve five-star resorts, carefully arranged loungers, and days that blur into each other in the sunshine, with a book. And then there are those where you wake up somewhere quiet. Somewhere a little wild. Somewhere that doesn’t feel like anywhere else.
The Isle of Skye falls into that second category.
This Isn’t the Kind of Place You Come to Sit Still
If your idea of a honeymoon is switching off completely and not moving very far from a sunbed, Skye is not the place for your honeymoon.

One of the first things most couples notice when they arrive on Skye is the pace. Because things can take longer here. The roads are slower, which means the distances feel different. The weather does it’s own thing!
So, instead of rushing from one place to the next, you naturally start to slow down and take everything in. So on a honeymoon, you have time for each other, and for an adventure together.
The Landscape Does Most of the Work
You don’t need to plan every detail of your honeymoon here! You don’t need a full itinerary, or a list of things to tick off.
Because the landscape has a way of doing the work for you. It will guide you around the island, so even if you drive somewhere with no particular plan, it will lead to a stop because it looks good. You might walk a little further than you expected and find a spot that feels like your own.
And the unscripted moments are often the best ones.
It’s Quiet, and special
Adventure Doesn’t Have to Mean Extreme. You CAN choose a high-octane adventure on Skye, with mountain bikes and paddle boards, but you can instead create your own little adventure.
A honeymoon on Skye could instead include long walks, climbing hills, or watching the sun set from a beach that’s just for you. While you CAN indulge in watersports, I think that when you are on your honeymoon, it’s not about pushing yourself. It’s about experiencing something together that feels different from your everyday.
How Does Photography Fit In?
A lot of couples don’t initially plan to include photography as part of their honeymoon plan. But if you think it through, it makes sense. You’ve had your formal wedding photos, you’ve stood still for the groups and the portraits and there were dozens of photos of your bouquet.
Honeymoon photos are completely different. They aren’t a formal session, they aren’t as staged. but are the perfect way to capture a small part of what your honeymoon felt like. We’ll spend a couple of hours, somewhere beautiful, without interrupting the flow of your trip.
Something that reflects the place, the atmosphere, and how it felt to be there together
Honeymoon memories can sometimes become slightly blurred over time, and having something to come back to can be so special for you in the years to come.
